Middle Corridor – the overland route for heavy haulage to Central Asia

At a glance

The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian Route) connects Europe via Türkiye and the Caucasus by Caspian ferry with Kazakhstan and Central Asia – without transit through Russia. Oversize Transports runs this corridor end to end for heavy haulage and abnormal load transports of up to 200 t, including permits, customs (T1/TIR) and BF3/BF4 escort.

The Middle Corridor: overland via Türkiye and the Caucasus, Caspian crossing by ferry, on to Central Asia – without transit through Russia.

Why the Middle Corridor?

With the sanctions against Russia and Belarus, the classic northern route is no longer a predictable option for many industrial goods. The Middle Corridor has since established itself as the reliable, sanctions-compliant land connection between the EU and Central Asia. For heavy haulage and abnormal load transports it is the route of choice towards the Caucasus, the Caspian region and the Central Asian markets.

The sections of the corridor

We plan every section door to door – with the right permits, border formalities and ferry coordination for oversize packages.

Typical sections of the Middle Corridor from the EU. Guide values; the actual route depends on the country of origin, dimensions, weight and conditions.

Permits, customs and escort

The rule across the whole corridor is: one separate special permit per country, in Germany via the VEMAGS procedure under StVO §29. For the non-EU sections, transit procedures (T1 or TIR carnet) are added. Where the permit requires it, we provide BF3/BF4 escort vehicles and coordinate with the authorities. The right vehicle choice – from the low-loader to the modular trailer – follows from the weight, height and the bottlenecks along the route.
